New Parent Celebration:
Curious about what BlackLine offers to you as you make plans to add a new member to your family? This one-hour celebration session is offered to expectant employees and their partners, families adopting a child, and families having a child through surrogacy. The celebration will familiarize employees and their partners with their healthcare options (in the United States), unique support offerings, the BlackLine parenting group (in the process of forming), and resources available throughout the perinatal period. A general Q&A will follow the celebration session. In addition, employees will learn how to sign up for the optional perinatal classes and the BlackLine Baby Shower, how to register for shower gift, and have the opportunity to win some great prizes. This free one-hour virtual baby shower is for BlackLine employees and their partners. Classes are offered at 12:00 pm PST (see dates above). During this celebration, we will play shower games, win prizes, and remind you of the upcoming parenting education and support offerings available to you through Blackline. From sleeping, to reading your baby’s cues, to accessing support, we have you covered. You will discover the top 20 hacks to make your life easier and enjoy your early days as a new parent! Many of us think that the return to work will only be complicated by continuing to breastfeed. With a little bit of planning, organization, and the right tools, your return to work can actually be enhanced by continuing to breastfeed your little one. This short one-hour class will help you optimize the transition back to work while breastfeeding. Educator: Laurel Wilson Baby Tools: New Dads Class
This is a one-hour virtual class. This unique program is led by dads for dads and will be offered once a quarter. You will be oriented to the unique aspects of new fatherhood by experts. Topics include gatekeeper phenomenon; troubleshooter's guide to crying babies; dad's toolbox; caring for new moms; birth and bonding; what to expect postpartum; working/family balance; your role as protector. This class should be taken during the last trimester of the pregnancy. Educator: Schuyler Totman Balance: Mental Health During Pregnancy and Postpartum
Are you struggling with maintaining balance in your life while working and pregnant or postpartum? This class will offer tools, ideas, and support for new mothers and birthing/postpartum people. Led by a clinical psychologist who specializes in fertility, pregnancy, and work-life balance for parents, who will help you discover new ways to maintain balance during this intense life transition. This program will be offered once a quarter. The date of the next class is still to be announced for December, but you can register with the link above to receive information about the class once the date is finalized. Laurel Wilson, IBCLC, RLC, CLE, CCCE, CLD, BSc, PPFE is a TEDx and international speaker, author, perinatal expert, and consultant. She served as the Executive Director of Lactation Programs for CAPPA, for 16 years and now is on the Senior Advisor Board. She served on the Board of Directors for the United States Breastfeeding Committee from 2016-2019. She is on the Advisory Board for InJoy Health and Kindred Media and Colorado Breastfeeding Coalition. She owns MotherJourney, focusing on training perinatal professionals in integrative and holistic information regarding perinatal period. She has her degree in Maternal Child Health: Lactation Consulting and is an IBCLC. As the co-author of two books, The Attachment Pregnancy and The Greatest Pregnancy Ever, original Editor of the CAPPA Lactation Educator Manual, and contributing author to Round the Circle: Doulas Talk About Themselves, she loves to blend today’s recent scientific findings with the mind/body/spirit wisdom. Laurel has been joyfully married to her husband for more than three decades and has two wonderful grown sons, whose difficult births led her on a path to helping emerging families create positive experiences. She believes that the journey into parenthood is a life-changing rite of passage that should be deeply honored and celebrated.

Schuyler Totman has been a Master Coach with Boot Camp for New Dads since 2005. He currently works directly or indirectly with over 10 Dever-area hospitals and birth centers. He is also a Virtual Boot Camp Coach Trainer. He has two BAs from University of Colorado (Business and Journalism) as well as a MA from University of Colorado-Denver (Org. Communication - emphasis in conflict studies).

(Resource Publications - in pre-press). He is husband to Michelle and father to Clara (18) and Eliott (16), and a Colorado native born in Cortez (Western Slope) and raised on a farm in Lewis. Schuyler has milked and branded cows, bucked hay, hoed beanfields, and watched horses and cattle both conceiving and giving birth. He is a former member of the National Ski Patrol Service and a builder of shelves, tables, benches, decks, closets, mailbox mounts, and personal ziplines. He has climbed 20+ 14ers, if you count those done twice! |
Laura Nance has been involved in the childbirth field since 2001. She is a CAPPA certified Postpartum Doula, New Parent Educator, Lactation Educator, Labor Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Pregnancy Fitness Educator. She holds additional certifications from NASM (National Association of Sport Fitness) and Bellies, Inc as a physical and corrective exercise specialist specializing in core and pelvic floor health during the perinatal period. She runs a birth collective that serves families of the foothills of NC.
Laura serves as a CAPPA faculty member and trains professionals in the Postpartum Doula, New Parent Educator, and Lactation Educator certification programs. She has trained over 700 childbirth professionals since 2006. Laura has been serving on the CAPPA Leadership Team as the Senior Advisor of Postpartum Programs since 2014. In 2017 she worked as co-creator and co-developer of the CAPPA New Parent Educator program. Laura’s passion for educating professionals is demonstrated in the way she supports each individual student. When teaching workshops her goal is to inspire each student to reach their full potential as they go into their own communities to educate and support new families. Her trainings are down to earth, fun, interactive, and full of learning. |
Dr. Jennifer Harned Adams is a clinical psychologist with a specialty in women’s reproductive health, and a special interest in supporting health care providers around compassion fatigue and burnout. She currently works at The Center for Maternal/Fetal Health at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children at Presbyterian/ St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, where she provides services to mothers high-risk pregnancies, families in the NICU, and to expectant families anticipating a NICU stay or who have other special needs before or after the birth of their child. She also maintains a small private practice focused on issues related to fertility, pregnancy and work-life balance for parents. Dr. Adams was the founder of the CO Chapter of Postpartum Support International, and currently serves on the board in the role of Past President.
